5 Blogging Ideas to Get You Started Now

With more than 150,000,000 blogs already on the Internet – and another 175,000 being added on a daily basis – it is fair to say that your business or personal blog has competition.

Now, some folks write blog posts just for fun. Others, however, monetize their blogs and derive an income from them.

Still, others rely on blogs to drive traffic to their company’s websites.

There is no shortage of advice on how to get more eyeballs to look at your blog posts.

There is the idea to add images to the posts.

After all, this type of technique can increase your views by 94 percent.

Optimizing your site – and blog – for the mobile market is another necessity.

Then there is the idea of having a nice conversation with the reader rather than a stilted monolog.

Using simple words is a good idea. The same is true for cutting out the fillers.

But what do you do when you have all this down, and the creative juices are still not flowing?

This is where our five blogging starter ideas come in handy.

  1. Announce it! Industry announcements are ideal means for engaging the interested consumer in your products or services. If you have just perfected the art and science of using a green widget to effectively cut down on product failures, this is something that your customers are most certainly eager to read.
  2. Sneak a peek at the competition. Mind you, we are not saying that you should copy and paste. But if others in your niche have stumbled over a high-interest topic, there is no reason why you cannot take the topic idea and transform it into a blog post for your own website.
  3. List it. Folks like lists. There are the “7 ways that you can…” and the “Top 10 reasons why.” Lists are interesting. They offer brief thoughts that are then logically concluded and separated from the rest of the text. This makes lists easy to read.
  4. Product or service reviews. No matter if your company sells products or services, you have the option of showcasing your niche expertise by reviewing and pinpointing flaws or excellent attributes of items related to your industry. Doing so has the added benefit of establishing you as a thought leader in your field.
  5. The basics. Establishing a rapport with your audience is more than preaching to the choir. You need to draw in the newbies who have never heard of your service or product before. Talk to folks who are confused about how “things” work. Don’t use industry jargon here – just make it simple and easy enough for someone to read and remember. This is not the time to show off your high industry IQ. Save that for another time.
  6. Tutorials. The classic how-to post is a favorite. It brings plenty of organic search traffic to your website. Just make sure that you give your readers easy-to-follow advice and suggestions in laymen’s terms. This may be the time that they realize it is necessary to call you for help. It is ok here to add a caveat and tell them the dangers of a DIY or making a mistake that could have potential harm.
