If you’ve decided to add video to your marketing, you should give yourself a big pat on the back. Believe it or not, some people are still slacking there. So, a big congrats from me to you!
Now then, the next question you probably have is “What type of video should you make?”
That’s a great question because you have so many options.
So where do you start with video?
You could do…
- A website video
- Vlogs
- Video ads
- Video for email campaigns
- Brand-awareness videos
I could go on. But I won’t. Here’s the thing, none of those are really where you need to start. If you can great, but if you want my #1 tip to help your business with video marketing, it’s this.
Get video testimonials from your customers.
I want you to think about something for a minute. Have you ever left a review for a business? Yeah, probably. Have you ever given a business a written review for their website? Maybe.
The thing is, when someone asks you for a testimonial, you generally put some thought into what you are going to say. And it takes a little time.
But if someone asks you for a video testimonial, that’s taking it to a whole new level. There’s more work involved. Some people will just grab their phones and start filming.
Others will want to think of what they want to say, and then judge themselves when they see that video. So, if someone actually lets you use a video testimonial they filmed, well then, they really like you.
Plus, there are usually more substantial words than just a couple of sentences.
Think about how you feel when you see a video testimonial vs. a short review or even a testimonial on a website. It holds more weight.
I bet you’re asking “What if I can’t get my customers to film a testimonial?”
Not gonna leave you hanging there.
Here are the other two most effective videos.
Tutorial/educational videos and Demonstration videos.
Tutorials can be how to “do” something. We do that a lot with how to do something online. It could be on Google Analytics, or WordPress, or adding captions to a video. You get it right?
Educational might be lengthier – like in a course – whether from a school, a business, or an entrepreneur.
And demonstration videos – like how to use a product or maybe cooking something.
The cool thing about all of these types of videos is you’re not dependent on your customers to send you a video file. These you can do on your own.
And some of these don’t require you to be on camera. You can even show something and add in an audio track separately.
The main thing is you’ve got choices and of these three types of videos, you really don’t even need a videographer. Shh, don’t tell my Media Manager Zoey I said that.
But you may want professional editing.
So, there you have it. My number 1 tip is video testimonials, but right behind that is tutorials or educational videos and demonstrations.
